Contract Wordings Specialist

The Everen Group is seeking a meticulous and experienced Contract Wordings Specialist to join our team. Reporting to the General Counsel, this role involves drafting, reviewing, and maintaining insurance policy wordings and related contractual documentation across various lines of business, including for our mutual insurer and its members. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of re/insurance principles, regulatory frameworks, and industry standards to ensure contracts are accurate, compliant, and clearly communicate the terms of coverage. Key Duties and Responsibilities: • Draft, review, and maintain insurance policy wordings, endorsements, and related documentation for multiple lines of business (e.g. Property, Casualty, Specialty, Reinsurance). • Maintain a bespoke database for policy wordings, governance and constitutional documentation for our mutual insurance company. • Ensure all contracts comply with legal, regulatory, and internal guidelines. • Work closely with underwriters, claims teams, legal counsel, and compliance officers to tailor and approve wording as required. -Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory changes and market standards (e.g. Lloyd's, ISO, local regulators). • Provide technical support and training to underwriting teams on contract wording issues. - Assist in developing standard wording templates and maintaining a central repository. •Liaise with brokers and clients to negotiate and agree on bespoke wordings. •Review reinsurance treaties and ensure back-to-back alignment with original policy terms where required. -Research the history of wording iterations regarding the Group's mutual insurance company and produce reports for the General Counsel interpreting current wordings. Qualifications and Experience: We are looking for someone who has these abilities and skills: -Bachelor's degree in Law, Insurance, Risk Management, or a related field, ACII or CPCU designation (or working towards one) preferred. -Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in insurance contract wordings, legal or compliance functions, preference with experience working in multinational or Lloyd's market environments. Strong understanding of insurance products, regulatory requirements, and legal terminology. -Familiarity with both admitted and non-admitted insurance placements. •Excellent written and verbal communication skills. High attention to detail and analytical thinking. Experience with market standards such as Lloyd's Wordings Repository or ISO preferred. -Proficiency in Microsoft Word and document management systems.
