Markel Bermuda Limited, a subsidiary of Markel Group, has an opening for a Senior Underwriter, Professional Liability (EPL and W&H). The primary purpose of this position is to contribute and implement the strategic vision and plan for EPL and W&H. Assists with product profitability, growth and retention of new and renewal business that is consistent with underwriting strategies. Ensure effective execution of best practices. Develop and maintain relationships with internal resources (Actuarial, Product Development, Claim, IT, Operations, Regulatory, etc.) to coordinate services to customers and ensure that superior products are being delivered to our internal and external customers. Key Duties and Responsibilities include underwriting a book of business primarily involving EPL and W&H risks, negotiating with brokers, analyzing coverage, managing book performance, assisting in establishing underwriting guidelines, leading client meetings, and engaging in product development and cross-selling.

Requirements

A minimum of 5 years experience in underwriting, claims and/or brokering for professional liability; a recent focus in EPL and W&H product lines would be beneficial; Four-year degree in business or related field from an accredited University/College; Experience with industry accepted policy forms and strong working knowledge of applicable endorsement wordings; Strong interpersonal, communication, negotiation, analytical and organizational skills; Excellent problem solving and decision making abilities; Must be a team player and able to work independently as needed.
