Aquarist

The post holder works under the supervision of the Head Aquarist and in accordance with the Departmental policies and procedures, to provide the appropriate care, maintenance and improvement of all aquarium exhibits at the Bermuda Aquarium, Museum and Zoo (BAMZ), contributing to a greater knowledge, understanding, and appreciation of Bermuda's environment by residents and visitors. The Aquarist also performs administrative duties associated with aquarist services and undertakes outreach and liaison as well as additional duties within the Section.

Requirements

The post requires an Associate's Degree in Aquarium Science, Environmental Science, Marine Biology or Zoology or related discipline, a certification in Scuba diving to Rescue Diver or equivalent (PADI, NAUI, BSAC), CPR, First Aid and Oxygen Provider, and possession of a 'C' Class Pilots' and Intermediate Truck Licences. A minimum of one (1) year's relevant experience is required. Applicants without an Associate's Degree but with at least three (3) years' experience will also be considered. Physical fitness and the ability to work irregular hours are necessary.
