Relief Cook

Under the general direction of the head cook, is responsible for relieving the head cook, vegetable cook, salad cook, first cook, second cook, and the baker. Key responsibilities include: Maintains high standards of quality food production and portion control using standardized recipes. Constantly and consistently works towards attaining the objective of high quality, safe, appealing, nutritionally adequate meal service to patients and staff. Assists in other production and service areas as requested. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

A minimum of two years hospitality experience in all areas of catering is essential. A minimum of two years of experience in all areas of large quantity food production. Must have formal training – a minimum of City and Guilds 706-2 or equivalent. Must possess ample knowledge of sanitary standards of food service, proper cooking methods and cooking temperatures for best utilization and yield of meats and other foods in order to retain their nutritional quality, flavor, appearance.
