CLINICAL EDUCATOR

Key responsibilities include: Plans, develops, implements, evaluates and promotes patient, family, community and staff education for the assigned directorate Establishes educational goals and objectives on behalf of the Nursing Staff Development Department for the Long Term Care Directorate, Home Care, Agape, and facilitates their achievement Establishes attainable staff competencies and assists staff in maintaining high standards of performance Assists with orientation and ongoing clinical and professional development of staff Routinely assesses/addresses learning needs of clients and families Organizes in-service education for new equipment/supplies and care processes Assists with direct patient care to maintain clinical skills Participates in hospital/community health fairs Acts as an expert clinical resource person for staff by demonstrating expert knowledge in health care trends and evidence based practices within the assigned directorate and as role model and preceptor for staff Deputizes for other Clinical Educators when required Qualifications &/ Registration required: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. Master's (Nursing and or Education) preferred Proven ability in developing/facilitating modules designed to expedite adult learning Competent with all technology required for presentations, etc. Minimum of five (5) years relevant Long Term Care experience Demonstrated superior communication, interpersonal, organizational and leadership skills CPR Instructor, Moving & Handling Instructor, NICHE (Nurses Improving Care for Health system Elders) certified, Safety Care instructor, and Dementia Care certified, an asset Must be proficient in MS Office 365 application and electronic medical record
