Purchasing Manager

We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Purchasing Manager to join our team. Your role will be to identify, evaluate, and acquire profitable merchandise for our store. This will include analyzing market trends, negotiating with suppliers, determining quantities, coordinating the timing of deliveries, and managing inventory levels. Our ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, and a deep understanding of consumer behavior. Additional mandates include: Analyze consumer buying patterns and predict future trends Review and interpret sales records and inventory levels Negotiate with suppliers and vendors to secure beneficial terms and quantities of scale Order and purchase merchandise in accordance with demand and quality standards Ensure that the ordered products are shipped and received on time Work closely with visual display staff and department heads to decide how items should be displayed to maximize customer interest and product turnover Regularly review performance indicators, such as sales and discount levels Attend trade shows and exhibitions to stay up to date with retail market trends

Requirements

A minimum of 5 (five) years of experience as Purchaser/Buyer in a mid-to-large retail environment Strong numerical and analytical skills Excellent negotiation skills Familiarity with market research, data analysis and purchasing best practices Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or relevant field Exceptional verbal and written communication skills Advanced experience in MS Office Suite Ability to travel
