SENIOR ACCOUNTANTS

Pillar Capital Management Limited ('Pillar') is a growing reinsurance and investment manager that manages an affiliated Class 3 reinsurer, along with affiliated investment funds and third-party capital (the 'Funds'). The Funds invest in traditional (re)insurance and financial market instruments where performance is driven by underlying non-life insurance risk. Pillar is recruiting Senior Accountants to join a dynamic and expanding finance team. This role will have exposure and interaction with the investment and operational functions of the business. Duties & Responsibilities will include: Preparation and analytics for monthly financial statements, projections, deployable capital, regulatory filings, audited GAAP statements, including supporting detailed workpapers and other periodic reporting to stakeholders, including regulatory and BMA filings. To include Prepare the monthly management accounts, monthly NAVs, fee calculations & special share classes, & compare to same from the third party administrator. Review/prepare fluctuation on all entities, investment analyses and other analyses to support US GAAP and statutory financial statements and other regulatory filings Input & scrutinize the contract accounting information in underwriting accounting system, including new contract set up, premium collections and premium adjustments. Obtain and prep earning patterns, trade allocations Prepare monthly loss reserve and ultimate summaries, working directly with the actuarial and underwriting teams. Oversee claims payments process for UW system. Prepare fundamentals of Fx hedging, cash requirements, swap holdings, and swap settlement workpapers. Prepare Trust activity records, including compliance with investment guidelines Liaise with the underwriting team and brokers to resolve and manage reinsurance accounting activities Train and develop staff Provide support for projects, implementations, marketing materials and tax & compliance activities. Oversee accounts payable and intercompany transactions, including arranging local vendor payments and international wire letters. Minimum Requirements: Professional accounting designation (ie CA-CPA, U.S. CPA, CA(SA), ACA or equivalent) with a minimum of 4 year post qualification experience Preference will be given to candidates with audit senior experience with an audit firm, including audits of reinsurance entities or fund entities. Preference will be given to candidates with at least 2 years of relevant fund or reinsurance experience in industry and/or substantial US tax, compliance and regulatory experience. Experience in and understanding of contract accounting, premium earning, adjustments, etc. or experience in and a understanding of NAVs, hurdles, side pockets and related fund accounting concepts. Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy is imperative. Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite of applications and ability to demonstrate such. Demonstrated advanced skills in Microsoft Excel to include advance formulas and pivot tables would be an asset. Previous experience with Phinsys would be a plus, but not necessary. Ability to communicate effectively, both written & orally. Ability to prioritize and multi-task, including completing assignments accurately and within established deadlines, working overtime as needed. Excellent references required. Successful candidates will be required to adhere to all aspects of Pillar's Code of Conduct including, but not limited to, reporting of personal trading activity and social media monitoring. In addition, successful candidates may be subject to periodic background and police checks.
