National Museum of Bermuda is hiring a Housed in Bermuda's largest fort, our client, the National Museum of Bermuda, is seeking a dedicated, hands-on Facilities Manager to oversee and execute preventative and reactive maintenance across its historic 15-acre property. This includes buildings, grounds, systems, and equipment. The Position: Reporting to the Executive Director, the Facilities Manager will ensure the security of the property and the health and safety of visitors and staff. The successful candidate will be responsible for Museum campus maintenance, resolving maintenance and facilities issues promptly, being hands-on where possible, and overseeing service contracts/coordinating with contractors if required. The Facilities Manager will collaborate with expert Museum staff on historic preservation matters and emergency preparedness, maintain records for all aspects of the property and systems, and monitor the buildings for cleanliness and conservation needs. The Facilities Manager will also supervise cleaning staff/contractors, oversee helpers and volunteer groups, carry out and oversee horticultural work, support functions by assisting with exhibition installation and artifact handling, and other ad hoc work. They will also be responsible for responding to emergencies during off-hours and have opportunities for paid support for venue hire during evenings and weekends. This role would suit a strong, independent problem solver who enjoys hands-on maintenance work. Minimum Qualifications, Skills & Experience: • Demonstrated interest in maintaining historic buildings and assets to the highest possible standards; previous experience with public or listed/historic buildings is desirable • Experience with basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, masonry, and horticulture tasks • Basic knowledge of HVAC and other mechanical and electrical systems • Experience with procurement, contract management, and implementing preventative maintenance plans • Physical capability to lift heavy objects and perform labor-intensive tasks • Bermuda intermediate truck license required Willingness to adopt a hands-on approach, with strong time management, multi-tasking, and problem-solving skills • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a small, committed team • Strong organisational, planning and communication skills • Positive, enthusiastic, and self-motivated, with the ability to take initiative • Commitment to on-call work, including fire alarm and emergency responseNot specified
