Water Engineer - Utility Division

The Water Engineer is directly involved with the operations and capital projects of the Utility Division. Reporting directly to the Chief Engineer, this role is responsible for the efficient operation and maintenance of the company's water resources and desalination equipment, as well as assisting with the planning and management of the Utility Division's operations as a whole. This is a "hands-on" role that engages with diverse activities and technical areas. Operate and maintain in good order production equipment for the manufacture of potable and bottled water. Operate and maintain storage and distribution systems for potable water. To assist the Chief Engineer with design, planning and implementation of new works, capital infrastructure projects, and preventative maintenance programmes. Ensure operational compliance with local and international quality control standards. Maintain records and reports including daily equipment logs, monthly metered water sales, inventory control, customer queries and complaints, and overseas orders. Monitor daily distribution and storage systems to assess leakage. Monitor daily production and demand to ensure sufficient production capacity. Analyze operating trends using analytical tools and software. Respond to operational abnormalities to efficiently return to operating limits. Substitute for the Chief Engineer as needed, requested, or directed. Perform or manage other duties as directed, requested or agreed.

Requirements

BEng, BSc or equivalent in Civil, Mechanical, or related engineering field. A professional engineer designation (C. Eng, P. Eng or equivalent). A minimum of two years' postgraduate experience in water treatment and/or distribution systems. Experience with desalination systems is an advantage. Valid Bermuda Driver's license (intermediate) or willing to obtain. Conversant with the engineering design, technology, operation and maintenance of industrial water systems. Working knowledge of Water Resources Act, Public Health (Water Storage) Regulations, and Health and Safety at Work Act. Critical thinking, data analysis and strategic decision making. A sound and reliable work ethic with good time keeping and communication skills. Ability to work extended hours including nights, weekends, and public holidays to assist with emergencies. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Computer Aided Design, and Hydraulic Modeling Software Meet the physical requirements to safely and effectively perform the required duties including some exposure to noise, working at heights and in confined spaces, exposure to water, chemicals, hazardous materials, and inclement weather conditions.
