Investigations Officer and Intake & Research Officer

Working under direction of the Ombudsman for Bermuda, the Investigations Officer is accountable for responding to complaints and enquiries from members of the public about the administrative actions of public authorities. The post holder works to resolve complaints, formally or informally, in accordance with the provisions of the Ombudsman Act 2004 and internal policies and procedures. The Intake & Research Officer is the first point of contact for all complaints and enquiries from members of the public. The post holder is accountable for the initial administration of complaints and enquiries. They also manage confidential information and interpersonal relationships in a professional manner and are primarily responsible for the identification of complaint jurisdiction, making appropriate referrals, and the initial research of complaints.

Requirements

Key Requirements: Bachelor's degree in a related field or an equivalent professional designation). Minimum of 5 years' working experience in a similar leading role of decision-making, authority, and responsibility (e.g. demonstrated success facilitating communications, managing expectations, and delivering on results for different stakeholders) in a professional environment. Additional training/ experience in conflict management, mediation, or community relations is desirable. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel along with experience compiling statistics and report writing Strong analytical written and communication skills with the ability to communicate information across diverse stakeholder groups Prior experience in mediation / alternative dispute resolution is an asset Key Requirements: Bachelors degree or relevant professional designation along with a minimum of 3 years' experience at a similar level of decision- making and responsibility (e.g. demonstrated success facilitating communications, managing expectations, and delivering on results for different stakeholders) in a professional environment. Strong organisational, communication, and analytical skills are essential as are honesty and integrity with the ability to maintain secrecy with sensitive and confidential information. Strong interpersonal skills with a calm and empathetic demeanour. Ability to effectively manage competing demands and work to deadlines under pressure. Service-oriented and resolution-focused with a sense of investigative curiosity. Effective research and analysis skills, particularly relating to law and administrative procedures. Database input. Competency with standard computer applications. Effective business writing skills. Ability to work in a computerized environment with proficiency in Word and Excel.
