Tradesman Class 2 (Welder/Fabricator)

Accountable to the Mechanical Superintendent, Working Craft Foreman, Senior Tradesman. Post holder must be able to carry out under supervision all tasks associated with the fabrication and welding of light and heavy gauge metals. Duties include but are not limited to: performing repairs by welding to various materials using different welding techniques (gas and electric), general fabrication in light and heavy gauge materials, effectively using hand tools, power tools, and machinery, working from engineering drawings and sketches, and assisting in mechanical maintenance and repairs as directed.

Requirements

Recognized apprenticeship plus one year practical experience or four years experience in trade without an apprenticeship. City and Guilds, American Society of Mechanical Engineers or Hobart Institute of Welding certification or equivalent. Must have valid NTB certification. Essential knowledge includes good communication skills, a basic knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act, and all mechanical tools, equipment, and terminology.
