Addiction Counselor

The post holder manages a caseload of substance dependent clients/offenders and provides criminal addictive substance abuse treatment using best practice treatment modalities in an in-prison and aftercare setting under the supervision of the Programme Manager. Responsibilities include managing the client caseload, implementing treatment plans, facilitating groups, conducting client intake, and general case management. The position may also involve delivering substance-related education groups.

Requirements

Minimum five (5) years post-graduate experience in addictions counselling or cognitive behavioral treatment setting. Bachelor's Degree in Counselling, Human Services, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or relevant field of study is required. Alternatively, an Associate's degree with ten (10) years post-graduate experience in addictions counseling may be considered. Must have knowledge of relevant legislation, counseling techniques, and must maintain professional certifications. Applicants must be willing to undergo required training, including CPR and First Aid.
