Pillar Capital Management Limited ('Pillar') is a growing reinsurance and investment manager that manages an affiliated Class 3 reinsurer, along with affiliated investment funds and third- party capital (the 'Funds'). The Funds invest in traditional (re) insurance and financial market instruments where performance is driven by underlying non-life insurance risk. Pillar is recruiting a Manager Finance to join a dynamic and expanding finance team. This role will have exposure and interaction with the investment and operational functions of the business, as well underwriting, actuarial and compliance. Duties & Responsibilities will include: : Prepare and review work papers and assistance as necessary to produce monthly financial reporting. Maintain the contract accounting information in the underwriting accounting system, including new contract set up, premium collections and premium adjustments. Review the monthly management accounts of certain fund entities, including NAVs, side pockets and fee calculations of the funds, as prepared by the third-party administrator. Review and reconciliation of share exchanges including slow pay shares and preparation of supporting documentation. Financial projections including annualized returns by entity and share class and deployment and collateral analysis. Preparation and review of financial documentation including eaming patterns, trade allocations, claims reviews, reconciliation of systems and financial projections. Liaise with the underwriting team and brokers to resolve and manage reinsurance accounting activities including billings and collections, premium adjustments, claim payments and fronting arrangements. Primary liaison-coordinator with external Investment Managers including monitoring FX exposures and FX policy implementation. Coordination with banks / custodians for trust activities including management of all aspects of trusts including but not limited to set up, compliance with investment guidelines, performance and third-party asset management fees. Review and update the swap schedules, as well as settle swap balances upon termination of contracts. Ensure financial reporting is timely as well as accurate. Assist with other ad hoc projects as requested.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements: Professional accounting designation (ie CA-CPA, U.S. CPA, CA(SA), ACA or equivalent) with a minimum of 7 years post qualification experience including at least 5 years of relevant fund and reinsurance accounting experience required. Preference will be given to candidates with prior ILS experience. Solid understanding of reinsurance accounting, including contract accounting as it relates to insurance transactions, premium earning, adjustments and the impact of such on NAV and fund accounting. Solid understanding of share series accounting including side pockets, slow pay shares, share exchanges, hurdles and adjustments. Proven proficiency in Microsoft Office suite applications, and particularly advanced skills in Microsoft Excel including advanced formulas and pivot tables are required. Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proven ability to prioritize, use initiative, multitask, work to deadlines, and effectively in a small team environment. Ability to work overtime as required, including weekends and Bermuda public holidays.
