We're looking for dynamic and proactive individuals to join our team of Game Changers. Reporting to VP Legal Regulatory & Governance, this position is responsible for providing general corporate legal support to the Legal team. Working under the direction of senior lawyers and with other members of the Legal Department, s/he will draft and negotiate a wide range of complex commercial contracts, including confidentiality agreements. Provide general corporate legal support including assistance with compliance programs and corporate governance. Assist in preparing required Bermuda regulatory filings. Identify and inform business lines of statutory/regulatory developments and provide guidance on legal trends, statutory/regulatory developments and emerging risk issues related to long term reinsurance programs as well as assisting the business in maintaining and updating standard operating procedures. Advise and research new legislative or judicial developments relevant to Athene. Build and maintain superior internal and external client relationships. Participation in meetings with business unit management. Staying current on topics and trends in the life and annuity reinsurance industry. Adhere to all standards of excellence in matter management. Work effectively as a member of the global legal team, including colleagues in other departments of Athene. J.D., LL.B (or equivalent) degree and a strong academic record at an accredited law school. 5+ years' relevant legal experience. Demonstrated experience in contract negotiation and drafting skills. Demonstrated experience in general corporate matters. Knowledge and experience in legal, regulatory and other business issues relating to the completion of long-term reinsurance transactions. Working knowledge of Bermuda Monetary Authority rules, regulations and guidance notes. Experience handling required Bermuda regulatory filings.
